Physical Activity and Exercise

Exercise Image Physical activity is part of a healthy lifestyle at any age. Regular exercise can help improve the functioning of your heart and lungs, increase your strength and flexibility, and contribute to your feeling of well-being.

Moderate exercise that places weight on bones, such as walking, helps maintain and possibly even increase bone strength.

Any regular physical activity is good, from brisk walking to light gardening to chair exercises. Approaching physical activity with common sense is the key. Talk with your doctor or other health care professional before starting a physical activity or exercise program.

For more information on physical activity and exercise, visit our Links section and look under the subject heading "Health and Wellness".
