Home Care Services

Home Care Image Home care services allow older and disabled persons to remain in a familiar environment and maintain a sense of independence and security. These services can also reduce some of the stress often experienced by caregivers. Also, home care is usually less expensive than hospital or nursing home care. Home care services in Virginia fall into two general categories:

Skilled Care is given under the direction of a physician and consists of health care services provided by licensed professionals such as:

  • Registered Nurses

  • Physical Therapists

  • Speech Therapists

  • Occupational Therapists

Home Support Services include maintenance services such as shopping, meal preparation and light housekeeping. Assistance with personal needs (walking, bathing, dressing, etc.) is also available. Some providers also offer social work services to assist in planning for the person's future care needs, and to provide counseling.
